Tatev is really special. We weren't able to go to Nagorno Karabakh on this trip, so we'll have to visit Gadzasar moastery next time. We didnt' see Karahunj either. Two more things for our next visit to Armenia - thanks for the advice!

We were there in July. Tatev is spectacular - matched only perhaps by the Gandzasar monastery in Nagorno Karabakh. The road from the highway is something else! Did you get a chance to stop at Karahunj - the Armenian Stonehenge? http://www.armeniapedia.org/index.php?title=Karahunj

Rob: Finally, donkeys get their due! We are big fans, taking every opportunity to capture them on photo and video. Nostalgia, maybe? We wish we had one yesterday when we got lost in Kazakhstan's Tian Shan mountains.

I read about a village somewhere recently - and I forget where eactly - in which the locals have erected several monuments to donkeys, so much do they revere their qualities of stoicism, stubborness and endurance.

I'm off to Kisiskhevi again on Wednesday. Good luck in Kazakhstan.
