Panorama of the Week: Budai, The Laughing Buddha

In our version of this story, we took our motorbike all the way around Koh Samui island last weekend to catch some new sights. Along our way, we found Budai, the Laughing Buddha. Although the nearby Big Buddha often steals the attention of guidebooks, it’s this rather prosperous looking Chinese-style Buddha that caught ours.
We are told that Budai usually represents contentment. So contended is he that even his ears are fat. Now that is a heck of a lot of satisfaction.

Another amazing panorama. The Budda feel so livesize even though I’m not there. I think you did a great job.

I love the Panorama effect. I follow what you said, went on full screen and boom! I enjoyed the surprise! It was fantastic!

@Sarah: That’s the goal of these panoramas – to make people feel like they get a sense of what it’s like really being there. Glad it worked!

@Kirk: Koh Samui was a surprise in many ways. More generally, I suppose every place we visit is the way that you described: after you are done “seeing” a place, you realize you’ve only just begun.
