Panorama of the Week: Mazunte Beach, Mexico’s Pacific Coast

Filed Under:  Mexico, Panorama by Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott

When you imagine your ideal beach, what do you see?

Ours might feature an open stretch of coast, no crowds and a few small establishments — the type of place where if you wake up early you may even have the entire beach to yourself.

And this is what we found in the laid back town of Mazunte along Mexico’s Pacific Coast last week. Open the panorama to see for yourself.

This is a beautiful beach. I forgot to ask you guys how you do these!

    Christy says:

This is beautiful – it kind of reminds me of the Oregon Coast, but it’s probably much warmer! :)

    Claire says:

Def my kinda beach as well…reminds me of Playa Maderas in Nicaragua.

    Audrey Scott says:

@John: We were really pleasantly surprised by how clean the beach and water was at Mazunte. And until Semana Santa (Holy Week) hit, there was hardly anyone at the beach. Really nice to have it to ourselves :)

@Ayngelina; Mazunte is a great beach with a laid back, hippy feel to it. To make these panos we use an 8mm fisheye lens to take 4-5 photos and then stitch them together using Autopano Giga & Panotour Pro from Kolor.com.

@Christy: Yes, the water is definitely much warmer than the Oregon Coast!

@Claire: Haven’t been to Playa Maderas, but will now add it to the list of beaches we want to visit. Thanks for sharing!

Beach, books and beer is my passion. So this information is absolutely useful. Currently living in Singapore and exploring the south east asia beaches but this beach looks quite inviting.

    Jesse says:

Wonderful. Just wonderful. I thank you very much for experiencing such kind of feature. I don’t have a camera that captures panorama photos so I think this is just great.

    Audrey Scott says:

@Ekta: The three Bs you mentioned are a pretty nice combination! Can see why they are your passion :) There are quite a few beautiful beaches like this in Southeast Asia, but if you find yourself in North America, be sure to put Mazunte on your list.

@Brock: We were also really surprised at how empty it was when we first arrived. Although, we began to see it get crowded as Semana Santa started…then it was time to leave.

    @Jesse: Glad you enjoyed this!

This is another great coast to visit! but have you ever visited Poland?
Poland has the best coasts in Europe I think, worth visiting! It won’t make you regret also with so many new things to discover!

They certainly are wonderful views! I would love to see them in person. It must have been great to just sit there and take it all in. Mind you I guess that is what travelling is all about.

    Daniel Noll says:

@Spencer: It was, you might say, a traveler’s moment.
