I really enjoyed reading this. I think travel is one of the (if not THE) most eye-opening, stereotype-breaking, mind-liberating, spiritually-uplifting, and educative experience one can have. Whenever I read your posts, I feel inspired to get up and do something more. As you put it, I'd not want to look back 10 years from now with a lot of regretful what-ifs.

You guys are an inspiration, among my favourite travel bloggers. I also admire how you've managed to do all this as a couple.

@Megan: I suspect that every little bit helps, be it travel, extended living somewhere else around the world, or just a healthy dose of curiosity even about those things in our midst, just around the corner. Thanks for your comment.

I wish more people had the desire and ability to travel. Not be tourists, but actually travel. If everyone or at least more people stopped their lives and tried to build a home, however temporarily, in a new place I think we would have a much more peaceful a self actualized world. Our differences are really so small and when they seem so large, they really are just misunderstood. Thank you for this wonderful list and hopefully it will encourage more people to travel.

@Elle: Regardless of whether you travel alone or together with someone, it's all about the people. It's their stories and our interactions with them that carry the day and stir the greatest emotion and changes within us.

By the way, whenever we learn something new about ourselves -- regardless of what it is that we learn -- it can only be good. For if that thing is "bad", having learned about it at least gives us the awareness to then do something about it.

Even though I enjoy Solo Travel, I agree that its the people that I meet on my trips that make it memorable. I have met the most fascinating locals and travelers, that I feel that I would not have come in contact with if I had been traveling with another person. Each journey that I make I learn something new about myself. That can be good and bad!

@Andrew: We're happy to do it!

@Rachel: Being who we are is really all we can be, regardless of whether or not we choose to do something crazy. Thank you for your comment.

@Sandy: Glad to hear it!

I found #3 true, quite true.. for my side though, it's a little different. I have a tattoo, and some of my friends who don't understand art thinks I'm crazy (my family's an exception though, I'm giving them the right). But you don't have to feel like you did something stupid,.. I completely ignore them, and continue doing what makes me what I am.
This is a great post, really informative. Kudos to both of you! :)
