You might find us on a grimy, overnight chicken bus in rural India one day and sharing the story with an ambassador the next.

We (Dan & Audrey) have been described as adventurers, professionals, and – most recently – as full-time travelers and storytellers. Our passions: creativity, personal development, technology, public diplomacy, travel and street food. And yes, we do believe there is a common thread woven between them all.

In December 2006, we left our secure jobs and comfortable lifestyle in Prague, Czech Republic for a creative sabbatical: traveling the world, taking photographs and sharing stories about people from all walks of life.

Uncornered Market – our blog, photo gallery, videos, and audiocasts – is the platform for sharing these experiences. We aim to humanize the places we visit, drawing our readers in through photographs and stories, so they connect with people and places they might otherwise never hear about or actively disregard.

In turn, through our personal interactions we seek to alter the view of America that people get from watching the news, taking in movies, or watching popular television shows. Call this our small contribution to public diplomacy and mutual understanding in today’s complicated world.

We are also attempting to make our travels financially sustainable through specialized projects, consulting, sponsorship, and engaging in freelance photography and writing work. About Dan

Professionally, Dan balances the analytical with the creative and derives pleasure from catalyzing ideas from seemingly unrelated fields. His prior professional experience is concentrated in management consulting, technology, and large-scale project management. He values integrity, freedom, curiosity, and creativity and believes in trying to maintain a sense of stewardship towards those around us.

Dan took his first trip abroad at the ripe old age of 26. He went to India by himself, discovered another planet located on Earth, and fell terribly ill (dengue fever). He eventually recovered and has struggled with various bouts of the travel bug ever since.

About Audrey

Professionally, Audrey has a natural ability to build rapport in diverse settings and gain trust at all levels of an organization. She has successfully managed projects in over twenty countries – often remotely – but prefers to be on the ground working directly with the people affected.

Coming from a family tradition in international work that goes back three generations, her international focus in life is not a surprise to those who know her well. She looks for everyday universal experiences when she travels and aims to make personal connections with people and cultures in varied environments. She has a weakness for dark chocolate and can bake a mean apple crisp.
