Saeed, the man on the left, drove us from Osh to just over the Tajik border. He then handed us over to his friend whose Russian UAZ jeep was outfitted with Tajik license plates. Although Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have supposedly friendly relations, the Tajik authorities give Kyrgyz cars and drivers a hard time and vice versa. Bribes cost more and stops take longer.
