I really admire these brave people. I lived in Jinan in 94, 98-99 and visited in 2002. I have studied about what life was like in Shandong at the time and also what foreigners went through. They must have had an adventurous spirit and some real fortitude.

Their story in China is quite a story - good and bad! We spent the last few days in Qingdao trying to find the house my great-grandparents built here in 1937, but we weren't able to find it. Unfortunately, we don't have enough time to visit Jinan to look for the house they lived in there. Now that I'm here, my family's history has become a lot more real.
