I really love this portrait and i have to say im incredibly jealous of your adventure into Xinjiang.... its on my to-do list. Was this in the autumn or early winter? How cold was it?

This was still autumn (late-October) and it wasn't too cold in Kashgar at that time. I remember a fleece being enough for us. Although, we had just come from the mountains of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, so maybe it's all relative...
Xinjiang is fascinating - try to get out there soon. Kashgar is changing so quickly.
