mandalaybus I can relate from when I was there before the protests...I came home with hundreds of postcards....I can't even begin to image how desperate they must be now to see tourists. Posted: February 10 2008

uncorneredmarket The attention and selling at some of the larger temples was a bit overwhelming at times. It was obvious that people were getting desperate due to the lack of tourists this year. We normally don't buy souvenirs since we have to carry everything on our back, but ended up with a few sand paintings... Posted: February 10 2008
