It looks clear to me. Was Beijing as smog riden as they say here on CNN news?

I never saw a blue sky once when I was there a year ago, maybe things have improved. However, a lot of of the 'smog' is actually dust blown in from the desert - so in some ways part of the 'smog' problem is not pollution and unavoidable in that sense.

This clear day last December was definitely an exception during the month we spent in Beijing. For most of the days we looked out on a gray-brown skyline from the 26th floor where we were staying. My husband developed the "Beijing cough" within a couple of weeks. I hear it's worse in the summer because of the dust. Our friends said that the best weather last year was when the government was testing the cloud seeding in preparation for the Olympics - it would rain at night, but was beautiful and clear during the day.
