Christiania is a semi-autonomous community in Copenhagen where the inhabitants govern themselves. The City of Copenhagen keeps trying to bring it under its control, but the community has been running itself since 1971 when a group of people took over some abandoned army barracks. It's a green area where cars are forbidden and recycling and awareness of the environment are high. Hard drugs are outlawed, but soft drugs are available, which make it a draw for some.
