Liberation Day in Plzen, Czech Republic
We have no idea where all these classic American cars are the rest of the year, but on May 8th, the main square in Plzen is filled with them.
Liberation Day (World War II) is celebrated a little differently in Plzen than in other parts of the Czech Republic. American troops freed Plzen from the Nazis, while Prague and other areas were freed by Soviet troops. The folks in Plzen celebrate the day and honor American troops with a model American army camp, a show of classic and antique American cars, country music, and a show of American and Czech flags flying everywhere. As an American, it's quite moving to see.
