There is a hiking path that leads from the rim of Lake Quilotoa back to Chugchilan over 3-4 hours. The path is not very well marked because locals took down hiking markers to make their services as guides more needed. We received a hand-drawn map from our hotel. We got lost a few times, but made it in the end.
