Songkran, Thailand's New Year, is celebrated with water - and lots of it.
In Krabi, pick-up trucks packed with people and barrels of water drive, seeking to cleanse (read: soak) passersby. No one is safe. Warm water is refreshing and welcome, but the iced variety shocks and stings!
Our guest house in Krabi had buckets of water and ice out all day so its staff and the farangs (foreigners) could get into the action.
