Karlovy Vary, a spa town known for its curative waters, also plays host to a growing annual international film festival. © www.uncorneredmarket.com
In addition to being a famous spa town, Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) hosts a growing international film festival in July. The great thing about the festival is that it is accessible to all groups of people, from students to those in the film industry. Each year seems to be a bit more star studded with international actors and actresses stopping by. Even with the increased fame, the film festival keeps its laid back style and feel. © www.uncorneredmarket.com

We have no idea where all these classic American cars are the rest of the year, but on May 8th, the main square in Plzen is filled with them.Liberation Day (World War II) is celebrated a little differently in Plzen than in other parts of the Czech Republic. American troops freed Plzen from the Nazis, while Prague and other areas were freed by Soviet troops. The folks in Plzen celebrate the day and honor American troops with a model American army camp, a show of classic and antique American cars, country music, and a show of American and Czech flags flying everywhere. As an American, it's quite moving to see.© www.uncorneredmarket.com

The Czech countryside glows yellow from canola flowers, used for oil and biodiesel. The EU subsidizes the crop, so the yellow fields seem to spread further each year.© www.uncorneredmarket.com
Czech borderlands, the domain of Vietnamese junk shops, are bursting with gnomes, trucs, baubles, knick-knacks and trinkets. Desolation defines this infrequently-used border crossing between the Czech Republic and Austria, thus the perpetual 60%-off liquidation sale. Who knew Austrian demand for this stuff was so high?© www.uncorneredmarket.com
