A Yurt, Three Horses and an Alpine Lake in Kyrgyzstan
We spent two days on horseback from Kyzart to Song Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan. Dan had never been on a horse and it had been 20+ years for Audrey. We (and our noble steeds) managed pretty well, negotiating 3000+ meter mountain passes and steep inclines.
Our arrival at Song Kul Lake coincided with a Ramadan feast. And since we were late in the season, we almost had the whole place to ourselves. Frosty and magical.
