With the 2008 Olympics approaching, all eyes are on Beijing, China.
We share our impressions of this rapidly changing city by way of some photos from December 2007. At the time, the city was squarely focused on preparing itself for the Olympics. Buildings were literally under construction 24 hours a day and shopping centers were appearing like street lights on every corner. Misspellings were still the norm in menus and storefronts. And even on the clearest of days, the horizon bore a brownish gray hue thanks to Beijing's infamous pollution.
While in Beijing, we took in the refreshing modern art scene at Factory 798, hiked along the Great Wall at Jinshanling and took in recently renovated historical sights like the Summer Palace and the Forbidden City.
