Taking advantage of a friend's generous offer to stay in her country house, we spent a week in a Czech village in Southern Bohemia (80 km from the Czech capital, Prague).
This was no ordinary country house. It was reconstructed from a schoolhouse built in 1905. Tasteful yet quirky, it recalls an Austro-Hungarian hunting lodge outfitted from long-lost toy trunks and curio cabinets.
Take a look for yourself and you'll understand why we didn't want to leave!
