This famous statue is the character from the fairy tale of The Little Mermaid (btw, if you read the original by Hans Christian Anderson, it ends a little differently than Disney's version). The statue has been beheaded twice, her arm has been sawed off, she's been covered in red and green paint, and even has worn a burka on one occasion. Most of the time though, she sits in the harbor watching tourists circle around her trying to get the best photograph. © www.uncorneredmarket.com

In order to promote bicycle usage, Copenhagen has a bicycle loan system where you can pick up a bike and drop it off at a different location. A bonus is that the public bikes are brightly colored!© www.uncorneredmarket.com

Christiania is a semi-autonomous community in Copenhagen where the inhabitants govern themselves. The City of Copenhagen keeps trying to bring it under its control, but the community has been running itself since 1971 when a group of people took over some abandoned army barracks. It's a green area where cars are forbidden and recycling and awareness of the environment are high. Hard drugs are outlawed, but soft drugs are available, which make it a draw for some.© www.uncorneredmarket.com
